IMS scientists received the 2023 RIKEN EIHO and RIKEN BAIHO Awards

RIKEN announced the winners of a set of prizes, the RIKEN EIHO Award (RIKEN Significant Achievement Award), and the RIKEN BAIHO Award (RIKEN Excellent Achievement Award). There are given to celebrate personnel who have made significant research achievements.

The RIKEN EIHO Award was honored to the following IMS researchers.

☆Pauline ROBBE, Research scientist of the Laboratory for Transcriptome Technology
"Whole-genome sequencing of chronic lymphocytic leukemia identifies subgroups with distinct biological and clinical features"
☆Hiroshi OHNO, Team Leader of the Laboratory for Intestinal Ecosystem
"Identification of human intestinal bacteria that regulate insulin resistance and elucidation of the underlying mechanisms"
☆Shota SASAGAWA, Research Scientist of the Laboratory for Cancer Genomics
"The proof of contribution of somatic mutations in the formation of intracranial aneurysms and possibility of their pharmaceutical medication"

The RIKEN BAIHO Award was honored to the following IMS researcher.

☆Shohei KOJIMA, Special Postdoctoral Researcher of the Genome Immunobiology RIKEN Hakubi Research Team
"Uncovering disease risk of mobile element variations"

RIKEN EIHO Award
The President of RIKEN awards this to individuals who have made "research and development achievements that are worthy of receiving a prominent or important award or that are highly anticipated to lead to such an award" or who have made "research and development achievements that have had a strong impact on society."

RIKEN BIHO Award
The President of RIKEN awards this to individuals who have made "original research and development achievements that are expected to be highly evaluated by academic societies" or who have "research support achievements that are recognized for their outstanding contributions beyond RIKEN."
