RIKEN has decided to set up the Research Center for Allergy and Immunology (RCAI) in order to investigate the mechanisms and workings of the immune system at the gene level at RIKEN Yokohama Institute. Yokohama City is developing this region as the Yokohama Science Frontier (Suehiro-cho, Tsurumi-ku). The RCAI will collaborate with the other centers at the RIKEN Yokohama Institute, the Genomic Sciences Center, the Plant Science Center, and the SNP Research Center , to pursue its research goals, and aims to become a key life sciences research establishment in Japan.
