We are pleased to announce that the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Sciences (IMS) will hold an international summer program, the RIKEN-Tsinghua International Summer Program (RISP), in June 2025.
IMS and the Institute for Immunology at Tsinghua University (IITU) have agreed to alternate hosting an annual international summer program as part of our collaborative efforts. The program was held at IITU in 2019, at RIKEN IMS in 2023 (postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic), at IISU in 2024, and in 2025 it returns to RIKEN
Approximately 40 Ph.D. students and young post-doctoral fellows will participate in the lecture course at the RIKEN facility in Yokohama and RIKEN IMS-JSI International Symposium on Immunology in the Tokyo area.
Eligibility
Ph.D. students or early-career postdoctoral fellows within approximately 3 years of completing their Ph.D.

*Cancellation policy
Cancellations after May 19, 2025 will incur a cancellation fee, which will be charged to the participant who cancels. This policy applies without exceptions, including in cases of personal emergencies.
Travel
Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses (round-trip airfare and ground transportation) and for making travel arrangements.
Meals
Participants are responsible for covering their own meal expenses throughout the program.

The Symposium is a series of annual conferences hosted by RIKEN IMS in conjunction with the Japanese Society for Immunology (JSI).

1. Application Form A

Please name the file with application date (MMDD) as “Firstname_Lastname_A_MMDD” and submit it in EXCEL format.

Please submit the following documents 2-3 or 2-4 (if applicable) in a single PDF file titled

2. Application Form B

This form consists of the following three sections. Start each section on a new page.
This section must include the categories below. Do not exceed two pages for section (1).
- Education: Provide institution names and the highest degree obtained, including years. Start with your most recent degree.
- Research experience and career
- Publications and awards
(2) Purposes for Participating in the Summer Program/ Self-promotion
Write a summary of your research background including specific fields, experimental work, laboratories, and how you plan to incorporate what you learn at RISP into your current and future research work (maximum 300 words).
(3) Presentation Abstract
Participants will give a PowerPoint oral presentation and a poster presentation during the lecture course. All applicants must submit an abstract (maximum 300 words) describing these presentations.
3. Letter of Recommendation
A signed recommendation letter from the applicant's supervisor, addressed to the “RISP2025 Organizing Committee”. Note that the secretariat may contact your supervisor directly for confirmation.
4. Consent Form (EU and UK residents only)
To comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), RIKEN is now required to obtain your consent in collecting personal data. Please sign the consent form and submit it to us.

We recommend that you apply as early as possible in order to avoid any problems. You will receive a notification of your results by e-mail within 10 weeks after the application process is closed.
