At the Center for Integrative Medical Sciences, we are collecting genomic DNA and other samples from patients and the general population, with the cooperation of physicians and medical institutions, and are locating genes associated with disease susceptibility, drug responsiveness and disease mechanisms. We are also collaborating with universities, research institutions, and pharmaceutical companies in investigative research into new therapeutics and preventive medicine.
Our ultimate objective is to understand the mechanisms behind disease onset, therapeutic action, and side effects, so that this knowledge can be applied to the development of new drugs or new methods to prevent or treat the underlying disease. We are actively pursuing joint research with pharmaceutical companies and other organizations, so that the results of our research can be applied as quickly as possible to the development of new drugs, diagnostics, and other therapeutic methods. Moreover, in cooperation with medical institutions and hospitals, we are working on the rapid development and adoption of new treatment and preventive techniques.
