Lecture Course: June 16 - 21, 2017
RIKEN IMS-JSI International Symposium on Immunology 2017: June 22 - 23, 2017
Internship: June 26 - July 14, 2017
Application Deadline: January 12, 2017

The RIKEN, Center for Integrative Medical Sciences (IMS) was established in Yokohama, Japan, in April 2013 by merging two former RIKEN institutes, the Research Center for Allergy and Immunology (RCAI) and the Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM). We are pleased to announce that we will again sponsor the international summer program in 2017, maintaining the name RISP (RIKEN IMS Summer Program), as it has been widely recognized since 2006. We are accepting applications to our 12th Summer Program, which will be co-organized by Chiba University. This program aims to provide young scientists with the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge immunology, medical biology and genomic medicine research. The agenda will consist of lectures by internationally distinguished scientists in these fields and oral and poster presentations by each participant. RISP is open to talented graduate students and young postdocs, and lodging expenses during the program will be fully covered.

Up to 40 participants will be invited to spend a week (from June 16 to June 23, 2017) at the RIKEN facilities in Yokohama, during which time they will also attend the RIKEN IMS-JSI International Symposium on Immunology 2017. The Summer Program Lecture Course was developed to present both basic concepts and state-of-the-art research in order to promote better understanding of immunology, medical biology and genomic medicine.

RISP applicants also have the option of applying for the summer internship program. Up to 4 selected participants will remain for an additional three weeks as RISP Interns following the lecture course and symposium. During this internship (from June 26 to July 14, 2017), interns will carry out research activities at selected IMS laboratories.

The following are tentative lecturers.

Omid Akbari (University of Southern California, USA)
Chen Dong (Tsinghua University, China)
