This year the course gathered 29 students from KI, RIKEN and Japanese universities. This program focused on bioinformatics (e.g. transcriptomics, epigenomics, single-cell genomics etc.) and required the participants to work in groups on bioinformatics data analysis techniques, derived from handpicked published projects, spanning areas such as transcriptomics, genet-ics, epigenomics, and single-cell genomics studies among others, all under the supervision of individual teachers. The participants gave a presentation on the final day of the course to summarize their results. The symposium series is organized by RIKEN in Japan, and the Karolinska Institute (KI) and SciLifeLab in Sweden. The sym-posiums alternate between RIKEN and SciLifeLab/KI. The 2022 symposium focused on pandemic preparedness. This symposium event, which is part of the RIKEN-KI-SciLifeLab Symposium Series, was organized on the topic of “Data Driven Multi-Omics Integration in Life Sciences” and it brought together experts to explore the integration of multi-dimensional omics datasets and highlight the integrative aspect of their work and how it helped in understanding biology and medical sciences.domestic university graduate schools. There are now a total of 33 adjunct professors/associate professors at IMS (Table), and 78 students who had studied at IMS in 2023. On May 13, 2023, IMS held a briefing session on adjunct graduate school programs to provide an opportunity for students to visit and talk directly with lab leaders and to consider their future directions.CourseWednesday, October 11th, 2023 ~ October 17th, 2023Attendees29 young researchers from KI, RIKEN & Japanese universitiesSymposiumThursday, October 18th, 2023Participants:80 participantsGraduate ProgramAffiliated IMS InvestigatorGraduate School of Medicine, Osaka University Kazuyo Moro (Professor)Takashi Saito (Visiting Professor)Taishin Akiyama (Visiting Professor)Yukihide Momozawa (Visiting Professor)Graduate School of Medicine, Chiba UniversityHaruhiko Koseki (Professor)Hiroshi Ohno (Visiting Professor)Ichiro Taniuchi (Visiting Professor)Shin-ichiro Fujii (Visiting Professor)Fumihiko Ishikawa (Visiting Professor)Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Tokyo Medical and Dental UniversityIchiro Taniuchi (Visiting Professor)Kazuyoshi Ishigaki (Visiting Professor)Graduate School of Medicine, Yokohama City UniversityHidewaki Nakagawa (Visiting Professor)Taisei Mushiroda (Visiting Professor)Yukihide Momozawa (Visiting Professor)Kaoru Ito (Visiting Professor)Chikashi Terao (Visiting Professor)Graduate ProgramGraduate School of Medical Life Science, Yokohama City UniversityResearch Institute of Biological Sciences, Tokyo University of ScienceGraduate School of Medicine, Keio UniversityGraduate School of Science, Tokyo Metropolitan UniversityAffiliated IMS InvestigatorHiroshi Ohno (Visiting Professor)Makoto Arita (Visiting Professor)Takaharu Okada (Visiting Professor)Taishin Akiyama (Visiting Professor)Yukihide Momozawa (Visiting Professor)Takeya Kasukawa (Visiting Professor)Hazuki Takahashi (Visiting Associate Professor)Masato Kubo (Professor)Takashi Saito (Visiting Professor) Kazuyoshi Ishigaki (Visiting Professor)Masayuki Amagai (Professor)Kenya Honda (Professor)Haruhiko Koseki (Visiting Professor)Takaharu Okada (Visiting Professor)Ichiro Taniuchi (Visiting Professor)Sidonia Fagarasan (Visiting Professor)Azusa Inoue (Visiting Associate Professor)Karolinska Institutet - RIKEN Joint International Doctoral Course 2023 & The 9th RIKEN-KI-SciLifeLab SymposiumKarolinska Institutet ‒ RIKEN Joint International Doctoral Adjunct Professorship ProgramsIMS collaborates with and accepts graduate students from 8
